Together with British military and commercial expansions at the Sino-Burma frontier in later decades, it marked the start of the colonial administration’s dealing with its Chinese subjects in Burma.Based on English archival sources, this paper looks at the colonial administrative mechanism of governing the Chinese, and its impact on various institutional up to the 1930s in Burma.
